The Community
ESD #46 (Atascocita) is located 25 miles northeast of Downtown Houston and is bordered by the San Jacinto River, to the North; Lake Houston, to the East; The City of Humble, to the West and unincorporated Harris County, to the South. The district is a typical bedroom community of 74,000 residents and is one of the fastest growing areas in the state. Close to shopping and entertainment, it is far enough from Houston to feel like a small town, but close enough to provide easy access to all the city has to offer.

Compensation Package
- Starting Salary range: $54,714-$55,308 (dependent on position and shift) Annually
- Medical, dental and vision insurance, 100% paid premium for employee, 80% paid premium for dependents
- Monthly HSA/HRA contribution by the department
- TCDRS retirement, 6% employee contribution, 175% employer match
- Life insurance, 100% paid premium for employee (1x salary + $25,000)
- SFFMA membership including additional Accidental Life and AD&D policy

- Paid Time Off (PTO), accumulated per pay cycle, total of 104 hrs./yr. for 0-4 yrs.

Essential Job Functions
A Paramedic is one of two medical staff on an MICU capable ambulance for ESD #46. This position is responsible for the emergent care of the sick and injured within the response area of the ESD #46.
Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for basic mechanical and all operations of the ambulance
- Responsible for clinical care of the sick and injured on the ambulance or ambulance bus (AMBUS).
- May function as the clinical officer of the ambulance or AMBUS in accordance with all local, state, and federal laws.
- Responsible for the daily cleaning and stocking of the ambulance or AMBUS.
- Responsible for maintaining all necessary education requirements to maintain medical certification to the EMT-P/LP level.
- Attend all mandatory continuing education classes, or meetings deemed required by the EMS Officers.
- Clean and perform any and all station duties as requested or required daily.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education, Experience and Certifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 21 yrs of age at the time of hiring
- Must be certified by the Texas DSHS as an EMT-P or LP (not in the reciprocity process)
-Must have or obtain NIMS 100, 200, 700 & 800 Courses
-BLS CPR, ACLS, PALS, ITLS (or similar)
-Must be able to sit and stand for 8 hours.
-Must be willing to work 12 and 24 hours shifts.
-Must be willing to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
-Must be able to legally drive an emergency vehicle.
-Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
-Must have command of the English language.
- Able to pass a pre-employment background check
- Must be able to complete annual protocol and skills testing to skill level
- Must be able to complete an annual agility test as needed
Other Skills/Abilities
- Should possess good computer skills; examples, but not limited to: WORD, EXCEL, and Power Point.
-Must type 35-40 wpm.
-Good organizational skills.

Written Testing available by appointment: weekdays Monday-Friday, January 18-29, 2021 from 9am -4pm. Please contact Mary Anne Sokol @ 281-913-4804 to schedule a time to take this test. Written test must be completed by January 29 to be considered for the next phase: skills and interview. Application/Resume must be submitted prior to scheduling appointment for the written test.
Skills Testing and Interview: Wednesday, February 3, 2021. We will reach out to you with specific time. Please note that this is the only day testing and interview will be available for this posting.
New Hire Orientation/Start date: February 23, 2021(successful candidates notified by February 5, 2021)
