Atascocita Fire Department First Responder Recognized at 2019 Peace Officer & Firefighter of the Year Luncheon
Tuesday, September 24, 2019
Humble, TX. (September 24, 2019) - Perhaps Iggy’s most significant contribution this year has been his role in the development of a tactical response plan for active shooter incidents. To ensure that the best possible plan was created, Iggy immersed himself in extensive training programs designed to teach the integrated roles of law enforcement and emergency tactical medical services. Armed with this advanced knowledge and skill set, Iggy has been a major influence in the final development of the Atascocita Fire Department’s emergency tactical medical response plan for active shooter incidents including staff training, live action drills and even providing input in the design of ballistic vests and rescue equipment worn and used by our tactical medics.
“In an organization such as the Atascocita Fire Department, where the over-performing first responder is the norm, Iggy Rodriguez rises to the top. When it comes to exceeding the department’s needs and expectations this man stands out consistently and tirelessly.” Commented Chief of Department Mike Mulligan.
Iggy started with the Atascocita Fire Department in January of 2018 and ascended to the rank of In-Charge Paramedic and Field Training Officer (FTO). During his time at AFD Iggy has constantly sought out ways to contribute and add value to many major initiatives. In addition to his contributions mentioned above, he was a lead instructor in the 2018-19 EMT courses conducted by AFD including an EMT course offered specifically for high school students.
