Saving a Four-legged Friend
Wednesday, October 12, 2016
On Saturday October 8th, an Atascocita VFD EMS crew observed a dog walking in and out of traffic in the 4800 block of E FM 1960 near Tacos Flores. The dog was likely to be hit or cause an incident if something was not done quickly. The Atascocita VFD crew reverted to their life saving skills and with some help from our friends at Tacos Flores. The crew used fajita meat to lure the dog out of traffic and to a safe area. The crew made a quick leash from some medical equipment and was able to get the dog to a wonderful team of people at the AtascaZoo Vet Center. There the dog was chipped and found to have the name of "Lobo" and owners in the Downtown Houston area. The owners were contacted and soon after reunited with "Lobo'. The owners were extremely greatful and said that "Lobo had been missing for a week". If it had not been for the quick thinking of the Atascocita VFD and a couple local Atascocita businesses "Lobo" may have never been reunited with his family. This is also a great reminder to get your pet chipped for identification purposes.
